Project selection

I did not want to work on some project that I wouldn't look back on with pride. My bachelor of arts major is in cree language literacy. After this, I plan to apply for the distance MLIS program with the University of Alberta. I want this project to be meaningful, and to use it as an example of dedication to language revitalization.

I've decided to skip my idea wall in my cubicle.

I am going to have a conversation with my dad in Cree. I will figure out the format to ensure it complies with the project expectations and evaluation.

He lives in Ile a la Crosse. When I was a kid, he would talk on the phone with his friends in rapid fire cree, and I never paid attention. He always spoke cree. He still does. While I learned cree and michif in elementary school, I have never learned enough to have a meaningful conversation with him. This would fulfill a goal of mine, sooner rather than later.

I am planning a trip home next pay day.

Cree 101 A/V Presentation

Researching audio-visual projects in my spare time has led to some pretty interesting ideas. However, that is where I am at in this stage of planning. Post-its on my office wall.

I am going to nail down an idea by the end of next week (Oct 26, 27, 28) & chart my action items the week after (Oct 29 - Nov 4). It is due December 16, so I will plan to address action items by week. I'll aim to complete the project by December 1, giving me two weeks to edit and refine for submission Dec 16.
